In Madrid we are bidding on high-tech activities. Adequate space is therefore a primary concern. We are thus putting all our efforts into providing land to companies that wish to locate in the Region.
The physical development of this "Technology City" requires a major project both in terms of spatial design and in its execution and implementation phases.
Its basic features can be summarized thus:
• The new "technopolis" is on land covering about 7 million m2, south of the town.
• It will represent an investment for the promoters of some 850 million euros in phased development over a period of about 10 years.
• Fully operative, it will create some 25,000 jobs, mostly skilled labour.
• Throughout the development stages, all kinds of innovative businesses will be able to find suitable locations in the “technolopolis,” as will those involved in the process of technological transformation and relocation, and service companies with high added value. Special centres will be created to assist entrepreneurs with innovative projects.
• In this regard, from its earliest stages of development, the new "technopolis" will be integrated within the Science and Technology Parks Network in Madrid with the participation of the regional government, and which already represents 4.5 million m2 of land.
