The Science, Technology and Business Park "Tecnoleganés" was created with two objectives:
- To boost research as a fundamental factor in the generation of knowledge and
- To create a favorable climate where businesses can find all the facilities they need to develop a culture of technological innovation, thus increasing competitiveness and improving the coordination of public and private scientific and technological areas.
It occupies an area of high environmental quality, excellent communications transportation and technology infrastructure, and includes leisure, shopping and service areas, all in the center of a region with a great present and a tremendous future potential. The park is part of the Madrid Region science parks network.
The project has the backing of Madrid, through the Community of Madrid, the Municipality of Leganes and Universidad Carlos III, which created the "Leganes Technology Consortium" a body dedicated to management development.
Urban features
The urban project is centered on a main road to allow communication between all areas. The design of the road, infrastructure and wide green areas guarantee the quality of the environment, destined to become an area of high environmental quality.
The park is divided into areas (science, technology and tertiary), catering for the needs of each separately in order to ensure their optimal location.
